I am happy to talk to local groups - particularly business and professional groups - on issues surrounding marketing and public relations. Presentations can be tailored to the particular interests and timetable of the group.
There is no fee for business and professional groups. A £50 donation to charity is requested from others.
I usually bring a laptop computer and projector.
In 1987 Mike Holland was a founding partner in Smye Holland Associates, the Peterborough-based marketing and public relations consultancy which he continues to manage. The firm specialises in working with clients in the environment, engineering and high-technology sectors and within the property and regional development market.
His other business interests include a non-executive directorship of Inverse Path Ltd, a recently-established computer security consultancy.
Mike is vice chairman (and former chairman) chairman of the Peterborough Regional Economic Partnership. This is the statutory sub-regional economic development partnership, charged with developing and implementing an economic strategy for the sub-region and co-ordinating the activities of its public and private sector members in delivery of the plan.
Mike played a key role in working with the steering group for an innovation centre in Peterborough, assisting in the campaign to secure a site and funding for the centre which is now due to open in 2008.
He is a trustee, director and former vice-chairman of Peterborough Environment City Trust where he sits on a number of the trust’s management and other committees.
Mike is also a trustee of the Norman Cross Eagle Appeal, secretary of the Peterborough Liberal Democrats and an active member of several organisations involved in conservation and the environment.
He is a Chartered Marketer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). His professional qualifications include an honours degree in engineering and a diploma in marketing as well as membership of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. He is a former secretary of the CIM’s Leicestershire branch and is a member of the national executive committee of the Marketing Network, a national organisation for senior marketing executives which is affiliated to the CIM.
An accomplished lecturer and trainer, Mike has delivered seminars, presentations and courses for Cambridge University, the Institute of Directors, Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Management Development Network. He has also run in-house events for clients as diverse as publishing company EMAP and The London Internet Exchange.
